Finally, Patricia Morrison – born Patricia Anne Rainone, Los Angeles, California – bass guitarist, singer, and songwriter, turns 55 today. She has worked with Bags (from 1976), The Gun Club (from 1982), The Sisters of Mercy (from 1986) and The Damned (from 1996), as well as having a solo career in 1994. She married The Damned frontman Dave Vanian in Las Vegas in 1996, and retired from the group in 2004 after the birth of their first (and only) child. The Sisters of Mercy song “Lucretia My Reflection” was written by lead singer Andrew Eldritch about Morrison. The lyrics compare her to the historical figure of Lucrezia Borgia. She left the band in the early 1990s, claiming money that was owed by Eldritch was not paid.

Back to Top of the Pops on June 16th 1988, and amongst a line-up including Sabrina, Erasure, Bros, and Matt Bianco, was this Sisters Of Mercy performance interspersed with clips of the video. Clever use of only white lighting adding to the impact and effect of the track here.
