Peak UK Chart Position: #1 in December 2002.

So, can you remember the exact title of the talent show that they won? Answer at the end…

The chart stats: four UK number one singles, 21 top ten hits – indeed, the only “official” release to not make the top ten was (in many’s opinion) one of their best, “Untouchable”, which made number 11.

I make no secret of the fact that I’ve seen them three times in concert (with three different females, but we’ll gloss over that) – and they were brilliant. The first time was in 2004, and as you can imagine, there was a considerable difference between then and their final tour in 2013 when it came to the magnitude of the show staged.

Here is (I believe) their first Top of the Pops performance of “Sound Of The Underground” – taken from the Christmas 2002 show, and sung live. Awww, don’t they look young?! Incidentally, Cheryl (insert surname here) turns 33 today.

Correct answer, by the way, “Popstars: The Rivals”.
