Third highest new entry on the chart on this day 17 years ago, at number four, for Swedish singer-songwriter Andreas Johnson – real name Jon Erik Andreas Johnson. It was his only success in the UK, as follow-up single “The Games We Play” baulked at number 41, and parent album “Liebling” only managed number 46. He has been recording and releasing material since 1996, and has competed in Melodifestivalen (the Swedish selection show for Eurovision) several times, most recently in 2015 when he was eliminated at the semi-final stage.
- “Glorious” has been used in television advertisements for Vauxhall, Volvo, and Nutella.
- Its biggest success was in Italy, where it peaked at number three. In his homeland of Sweden it got to number 13.
- Despite failing to chart elsewhere, Sweden has seen him have two top three singles since “Glorious” – with 2006 single “Sing For Me” getting to number two, and 2007 single “A Little Bit Of Love” getting to number three.
