Peak UK Chart Position: #19 in May 2000.
Birthday wishes to the following people:
- Jay-Z, born Shawn Corey Carter, American rapper/producer (appeared on three UK number ones: “Déja Vu” with Beyonce in 2006, “Umbrella” with Rihanna in 2007, “Run This Town” with Rihanna and Kayne West in 2009) is 47 today.
- Adamski, born Adam Paul Tinley, English music producer (“Killer” UK #1, “The Space Jungle” UK #7, “N-R-G” UK #12, all 1990) turns 49 today.
Plus, from the Netherlands, DJ, producer, and remixer Ferry Corsten celebrates his 43rd birthday. Born in Rotterdam, he has performed and recorded not only under his own name, but also the pseudonyms of Gouryella, Moonman, Pulp Victim, and System F, proving to be something of a pioneer of the trance era of the late 90’s/early 00’s.
Teaming up with felow Dutch DJ Tiësto as Gouryella, they released a self-titled track reaching number 15 in the UK chart in 1999, as well as remixing Binary Finary’s “1998” into “1999” in, funnily enough, the same year. As System F, he has chalked up two top twenty hits (the other being “Out Of The Blue”, a number 14 hit also in 1999) – and under his own name, his biggest success came with “Rock Your Body Rock” in 2004.
He was also responsible for a remix of “Adagio For Strings”, revived by much heralded musician, composer, and producer William Orbit, which was a number four hit in December 1999.
