Peak UK Chart Position: #7 in April 1994.

Astonishing to think that for a period of eight years in the 90’s, Madonna failed to have a number one record – in fact, in those eight years, the reissue of “Crazy For You” was the biggest hit, reaching number two in 1991 (and matching its original peak from 1985).

“I’ll Remember” was slap bang in the middle of that period, and followed the controversial “Sex” book, and its corresponding “Erotica” album. It was the soundtrack to the movie “With Honors” which starred Brendan Fraser, Joe Pesci and Moira Kelly, and fared better in America by peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

In my opinion, those eight years did spawn some excellent – and also forgotten – Madonna tracks. It also saw her fail to make the top ten for the first time since “Lucky Star” in 1984, when “Take A Bow” (also from 1994) stalled at number 16.

Madonna turns 58 today. Here’s the music video for “I’ll Remember”. Very difficult to find a clean copy of this – and indeed most uploads are back-to-front. This isn’t, thankfully.
