Christmas Compendium Track 33:

Peak UK Chart Position: #1 in January 1991.
Christmas Chart Position: #4.

A combination of Latin and French lyrics, mixed in with Gregorian chants and a haunting melody – totally unlike anything else around at the time, and a deserved number one come the new year. It was in contention for Christmas number one 1990, climbing well on this day from 27 to number six, but ended up a week later behind the second Righteous Brothers reissue (“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”) at three, Vanilla Ice at two, and Cliff Richard’s “Saviour’s Day” at the top.
