Peak UK Chart Position: #14 in July 1991.

Chuck D – real name Carlton Douglas Ridenhour – turns 56 today. Perhaps best known for his time as leader of Public Enemy, who originally took this track to number 32 in the UK at the beginning of 1988.

Anthrax were lucky enough to get a name-check in the original version, allegedly due to Chuck D being impressed at Scott Ian wearing Public Enemy shirts whilst performing with Anthrax. Certainly not the first rap/rock collaboration, but it did result in the two acts performing a joint tour, culminating in this track being performed together at the end of each gig.

In a way continuing the theme, Chuck D has joined supergroup Prophets Of Rage this year, along with DJ Lord (also of Public Enemy), B-Real (of Cypress Hill), plus three members of Rage Against The Machine. Anthrax, meanwhile, are set to tour the United States and Canada this autumn with the groups Slayer and Death Angel.
