Peak UK Chart Position: #2 in April 2013.
Nathaniel Joseph Ruess – or Nate Ruess for short – celebrates his 35th birthday today. Born in Iowa City, Iowa, United States, he played in punk bands at school, and formed his first band (called The Format) aged 19. Six years after that, his most commercially successful project – Fun – was formed, with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff. They scored a number one both sides of the Atlantic (as well as several other countries) with their 2012 hit “We Are Young” which featured Janelle Monáe. Fun are currently on hiatus with Ruess focusing on solo work.
- “Just Give Me A Reason” was the third single released from Pink’s sixth studio album “The Truth About Love”.
- It topped the charts in twenty countries, and despite not making the top spot in the UK, it sold over 800,000 copies and became the eighth best-seller of the year.
- The song gained two nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Song of the Year at the 2014 Grammy Awards, and won Best Collaboration at the MTV Video Music Awards.
- The aforementioned “We Are Young” by Fun was the UK’s third best-seller of 2012, selling 986.000 copies. It passed the million mark in January 2013, making it (at the time) the 128th single to do so.
This is an outstanding live performance, as long as you can ignore the fact that picture and sound are slightly out of sync.
